How It Works
Personal Automation triggers on SMS
Before you start
You need two things: a ZaDahab account (sign in with Google on the home page) and the Shortcuts app — it comes pre-installed on all iPhones running iOS 13+. Open the App Store and search "Shortcuts" if you can't find it.
Step-by-step
1
Sign in and copy your API token
Open ZaDahab in Safari, sign in with Google, then go to
Settings in the sidebar.
You'll see your personal API token — a long string of letters and numbers.
Tap it to copy it to your clipboard.
Your token
zd_tok_••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Keep your token private — it links incoming SMS data to your account. Don't share it with anyone.
2
Open the Shortcuts app
Tap the Shortcuts icon on your Home Screen (it looks like a colourful square with two interlocking circles).
Then tap Automation at the bottom of the screen.
Open Shortcuts → tap Automation tab (bottom bar)
Tap the + button in the top-right corner
Select "New Automation" (not "New Shortcut")
3
Set the SMS trigger
Scroll down the trigger list and tap "Message".
This tells Shortcuts to run your automation whenever a new SMS arrives.
Trigger Type
Message
Condition
Message contains…
Enable "Message contains" toggle
Type Hadhaagaag in the text field (this word appears in every eDahab SMS)
Leave the From field blank so it catches both eDahab and Zaad numbers
Tap "Next"
Zaad users: Zaad SMSes contain the word "Lacag". Add a second automation using the same steps below but with "Lacag" as the keyword.
4
Add the "Get Contents of URL" action
On the next screen tap "Add Action", then search for
Get Contents of URL and select it.
This action makes an HTTP request — the backbone of the forwarding.
Tap "Add Action"
Search: Get Contents of URL
Select the result under the Web category
5
Configure the HTTP request
Now fill in the request details. Tap "Show More" inside the action block to reveal the full configuration.
URL field — paste exactly as shown
https://zadahab.com/api/sms
Change Method from GET → POST
Set Request Body to JSON
Tap "Add new field" and add two fields (see below)
JSON body — add these two fields
"token": "YOUR_TOKEN_HERE"
"sms": Shortcut Input → Message Content
For the sms field value, don't type text — tap the field, then tap the blue
Magic Variable icon (looks like a wand), choose
Shortcut Input → Message Content. This inserts the actual SMS text automatically.
6
Turn off "Ask Before Running"
This is the most important step. Without it, iOS will show a prompt every time you get an SMS — which defeats the whole purpose.
Tap "Next" in the top-right
You'll see a summary screen — toggle "Ask Before Running" to OFF
iOS will warn you — tap "Don't Ask" to confirm
Also toggle "Notify When Run" to OFF for a cleaner experience
Tap "Done"
7
Test the automation
Send yourself a test transaction on eDahab (even 1 SHL works). Within a few seconds you should see it appear in your ZaDahab dashboard.
Make a small eDahab payment to any number
Open ZaDahab dashboard — the transaction should appear within 10 seconds
If it doesn't appear, check Settings → make sure your token matches
Already got past transactions? Use the Manual Entry button in the dashboard to add old SMSes from your Messages app. Copy-paste the SMS text into the field.
Frequently asked questions — iPhone
Why does nothing happen when I receive an SMS?
The most common cause is "Ask Before Running" still being ON. Open Shortcuts → Automation → tap your automation → toggle it off.
Does this drain my battery?
No. The automation only wakes up when an SMS arrives — it's idle the rest of the time and has virtually no power impact.
I use both eDahab and Zaad. Do I need two automations?
Yes — create one automation for "Hadhaagaag" (eDahab) and a second for "Lacag" (Zaad) following the exact same steps.
What iOS version do I need?
iOS 14 or later. The "Message" automation trigger was introduced in iOS 14. Check Settings → General → Software Update if unsure.
Is my SMS data sent to Apple?
No. The Shortcuts automation sends the SMS text directly to ZaDahab's server using your private API token. Apple never receives it.
How do I delete the automation later?
Open Shortcuts → Automation tab → swipe left on the automation → tap Delete. Your existing tracked data remains in ZaDahab.
App Used
MacroDroid (free)
Android Requirement
Android 7.0 or later
How It Works
SMS trigger → HTTP POST action
Before you start
You need two things: a ZaDahab account (sign in with Google on the home page) and MacroDroid — a free automation app from the Play Store. The free tier supports up to 5 macros, more than enough for this setup.
Step-by-step
1
Sign in and copy your API token
Open ZaDahab in Chrome, sign in with Google, then go to
Settings in the sidebar.
You'll see your personal API token. Tap and hold to copy it.
Your token
zd_tok_••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Keep your token private — it links incoming SMS data to your account. Don't share it with anyone.
2
Install MacroDroid from the Play Store
Search for "MacroDroid" in the Play Store and install it. It's free, well-maintained, and has over 10 million downloads.
Open Play Store → search MacroDroid
Install and open the app — grant any requested permissions
On first launch, allow SMS Read and Internet permissions
If Android asks you to set MacroDroid as the default SMS app, you don't need to. MacroDroid only needs SMS read permission, not SMS handling.
3
Create a new Macro
A "macro" in MacroDroid is a rule: when X happens, do Y. You'll create one that says "when I get an eDahab SMS, send it to ZaDahab."
Open MacroDroid → tap "Add Macro" (big + button)
Give it a name like "eDahab Auto-Track"
Tap "Triggers" first — this is what starts the macro
4
Add the SMS trigger
Configure the trigger so the macro runs whenever you receive an eDahab or Zaad message.
Tap "+" in the Triggers section
Select "SMS / MMS Received"
Enable "SMS body contains" and type: Hadhaagaag
Leave "From number" empty to catch both eDahab and Zaad
Tap "OK" to save the trigger
Zaad users: After finishing this macro, create a second one with "Lacag" as the keyword using the exact same steps.
5
Add the HTTP POST action
Now set the action — what MacroDroid does when the SMS arrives. You'll tell it to send the SMS content to ZaDahab.
Tap "+" in the Actions section
Select "Connectivity" → then "HTTP Request"
URL — paste into MacroDroid
https://zadahab.com/api/sms
Set Method to POST
Set Content Type to application/json
Paste the JSON body below into the Body field
Request body — replace YOUR_TOKEN_HERE
{
"token": "YOUR_TOKEN_HERE",
"sms": {sms_body}
}
{sms_body} is a MacroDroid magic variable — type it exactly as shown (with curly braces). MacroDroid will replace it with the actual SMS text at runtime.
Replace YOUR_TOKEN_HERE with the token you copied in Step 1
Tap "OK" to save the action
6
Disable battery optimisation for MacroDroid
Android's battery optimisation can put MacroDroid to sleep, causing it to miss SMS messages. This is the most common reason forwarding stops working.
Open Android Settings → Apps → MacroDroid
Tap "Battery" or "Battery Usage"
Select "Unrestricted" or "Don't optimise"
Samsung, Xiaomi, and Huawei devices have extra-aggressive battery management. On those brands also check AutoStart settings and add MacroDroid to any "protected apps" or "lock in memory" list.
7
Save and enable the macro
Review your macro — you should see one trigger (SMS received) and one action (HTTP request). Then save it.
Tap the checkmark ✓ or "Save" button
Make sure the toggle next to your macro is ON (green)
MacroDroid may ask for Accessibility Service permission — tap Allow
8
Test the automation
Make a small eDahab payment or top-up. Within seconds it should appear in your ZaDahab dashboard.
Make a small transaction on eDahab (even 1 SHL is fine)
Open ZaDahab dashboard — the transaction should appear within 10 seconds
If it doesn't appear, open MacroDroid → tap your macro → tap "Test Macro"
Already got past transactions? Use the Manual Entry button in the dashboard to add old SMSes. Copy the SMS text and paste it in.
Frequently asked questions — Android
MacroDroid stopped forwarding after a few days.
Battery optimisation killed it. Go to Settings → Apps → MacroDroid → Battery → Unrestricted. On Samsung also check the "AutoStart" setting.
I don't see "HTTP Request" in MacroDroid actions.
Update MacroDroid to the latest version. Go to Play Store → My Apps → update MacroDroid. HTTP Request is under Connectivity → HTTP Request.
I use both eDahab and Zaad. Do I need two macros?
Yes — create one macro for "Hadhaagaag" (eDahab) and a second for "Lacag" (Zaad) following the exact same steps.
Is MacroDroid really free?
Yes. The free tier allows up to 5 macros. You only need 1 (or 2 if you use both eDahab and Zaad), so you'll never need to pay.
What is {sms_body}? Do I need curly braces?
Yes, type it exactly as {sms_body} — including the curly braces. MacroDroid replaces this placeholder with the real SMS text when the macro runs.
Will this still work if I change my ZaDahab password?
Yes. The macro uses your API token, not your password. Your token stays the same until you manually reset it in ZaDahab Settings.
